Last weekend I visited Imperial Beach to see the sand castle contest and encountered a sea monster!!!

This was by far one of my favorite creations there.

So my friend made me this awesome frame earring holder thing a while back and I wanted to blog about it.
Isn't it amazing?
You can see all my earrings I made!!!
Well there are more which I still haven't added on there, but I think it is really useful for anyone who loves earrings!

I was commissioned to create these earrings!
The man who asked me to make these is giving them to his wife who loves blue roses.
It took me forever to get these rose beads...but after a month they came and I made them right away!

Aren't they adorable?
I think I might have to make one for myself.

Storytelling

Back in college I used to take a script writing class and my fellow classmates and professor always loved my stories. My professor even told me that I should consider pursuing a career in script writing.

Anyways, I'm going to blog my weekend because maybe one day I could incorporate it in a short script one day.

I called in sick to work this morning (Monday) because I didn't feel very well. Not physically, but mentally the weekend has taken a lot of energy out of me.
On Saturday evening my car was stolen. I was at my friends house and left my jacket on the couch with my car keys in the pockets. There was quite a lot of people there.
It was supposed to be a house party with close friends, but people started inviting random people and it just got way out of control.
I didn't think about the possibilities of someone actually stealing my car....
When I went back to my jacket to go home, my keys were gone.
As I headed outside...the car was also gone.
This was definitely a life lesson I needed to learn for leaving valuable things around.
Nothing this horrible has ever happened to me.

On Sunday, the sheriff's department called me to inform that they were able to find my car, but it had major damages. The lady on the other end of the line laughed while she told me. I have no idea why, but maybe she was nervous or just plain insensitive about how I felt. She gave me a number to the towing yard to discuss about my car and then she hung up.
The thought of facing my car made me want to vomit.
According to the towing company, my car was found in ravine, pushed off a 100 foot cliff.
It's interesting because when I reached to the point of rage, I started to laugh.
Not really sure why that is, but maybe it's my brain trying to make myself optimistic about the situation.

So when I got to the towing yard today I saw my car and it was totaled.
My heart sank.
The thieves stole my house keys and information from the glove compartment so I needed to change all the locks to my house.
It really upsets me that someone could do this to another human being.
I then began to cry from anger.
Unfortunately, nothing will bring my car back.
This incident made me realize that I shouldn't be so attached to a piece of metal.

If this was the worst thing that happened to me, I should consider myself lucky.
Why on earth should I let these low-lives get the best of me.
I'm not going to be upset about this situation anymore.

The happiest moment was when I found my art supplies in the car.
If I have art then what else do I need.

I guess things will be slow for a bit, but I'll be right on track after I get everything sorted out.
My deepest apologies if you were all excited about me selling my art soon.
It's going to be postponed for a bit until I get this taken care of, but I'll be right on track as soon as you'll know it!!!

Cleaning

So I'll be cleaning my house soon and was thinking to get rid of some of my past creations.
Just can't have too much clutter around me at the moment.
Hopefully once I get organized, I'll be putting old works on ebay starting from a dollar and you can bid on them.
What do you all think?
I'm also thinking about donating some of the money if it gets to a good price, but I am not sure which organization I could give to.
I've given to UNICEF before, but what do you all think about the Red Cross?
Maybe I could donate to a children's hospital in my city....

All ideas are welcome at this point.

Worst Blogger Ever Updates

Yes yes I am the worst blogger ever and I never update this at all anymore.
Well let me fill you in on things that have been going on in my life.
Nothing really interesting except that I am still taking portrait classes and working more than 40 hours a week.
Lately I feel too tired to be creative...
I'm looking to get my motivation back though because this is ridiculous of me wasting my time resting when I could be making something amazing.
Anyways, thanks for the support.
I appreciate it a lot.

Using Money Wisely

I didn't go out to the bars tonight because I was a bit under the weather. Not to mention the awful weather we were having these past few days.
The good thing though is that I used my money for a good cause this weekend by donating to Unicef to help children in Haiti.
There is this pledge on the Unicef website where I could donate monthly, which I might seriously consider if I start selling more artwork.
Right now it's a little bit tough because I haven't really been advertising myself.
Anyways, I am really looking forward to helping more people and bringing happiness to others...so I better get a game plan!!!

Life should always have hope, love & happiness.

Kitsune.Suzuki-Journal of Memories

So I have been gathering some information for an upcoming show.

4 years ago, I created a project called Journal of Memories the story of Kitsune.Suzuki.
If anyone wants to check it out please go to Kitsune's Youtube account.
It's a bit difficult to explain in one word what I was creating a digital folklore which explored culture, technology and art in our modern world.
Anyways, there's a chance for me to present this piece to a larger audience in Seattle (hopefully in June), so please help me stay motivated so I will actually finish "something" for this.

Capturing A Moment

Next month I will be taking a trip back to my motherland, Japan.
It's a bit strange since I haven't been back for almost 8 years.
Anyways, I'm on a search for a really good/affordable SLR digital camera. It would be nice to take some pictures while I'm there.
I probably won't bring my video camera though. It's weird that many people might assume I like being in front of the camera due to certain videos on the internet, but to tell you the truth I rather be on the other side.
I enjoy having more control on what others see.

So do you have any suggestions what I should get?

Hey all!
I have a new person to feature =]
Mr. Danny Blackwell sent me a video of a song he made that was inspired by our (Mr. Tanaka and I) Japanese videos!

This video is called "Osaka Girl" it's pretty awesome.

Artist statement!

I have been writing songs since I was about 15. My main themes are love, death and animals. As I get older I write less, and spend more time being a musical clown.

I am currently trying to write a novel. The best description of my life would be 器用貧乏　(lit. Talented and Poor) `Jack of all trades and master of none`.

3 Dreams fulfilled and 1 nightmare.

Dream 1: Playing as the opening act at a festival in Valencia, Spain that Sonic Youth headlined.

Dream 2: Performing a duo in Mexico with Lupe Infante, the daughter of my idol Pedro Infante who was the greatest Mexican mariachi movie star.

Dream 3: Coming to Japan and being able to study and compose Haiku poetry in the original language.

Nightmare: Winning a nationwide competition in Spain for new musical talent and having to record my music with renowned producer Matthew Herbert who subsequently stole my songs and said that I didn`t have the legal rights to them.

I find comfort in tea and cake!

Things have been looking pretty good for me lately.
I've started to work on a commissioned portrait piece which I hope to finish by the holidays (the charcoal portrait on this blog is not the piece).
The piece I am making will be done in graphite. Something new for me, but I saw someone's work in that medium and it was beautiful.
So things are looking up for me lately.
Doing well at work, cooking a lot more and having wonderful people in my life.
All I need is more creativity and inventions.
I'm pretty excited to share all my creations with everyone soon.

Moving

Right now I am in the process of moving to a new place, which is why I haven't been creative except for going to my art classes.
I've been feeling down lately because I find myself lost in certain situations. Not sure of what I will become...
Friends & family that love who I am...yet I feel very lonely at the end of the day.
Where does loneliness come from anyways.
I'm making my big step towards becoming an independent individual, but all I want to do is daydream and make things.

"Welcome to the real world," my father told me.

Life is going to be a rough ride from now on, but giving up is not an option for me right now.
I will change for the better.

Earthworks 05

Earthworks 05 is right around the corner and here is a little secret. The theme of the show is "You & Me" which meant I had to collaborate with someone.
So I created an artwork with someone who doesn't draw!
Anyways, hope you guys can make it to this show!

It will be displayed at SHOJIN sometime between October and November.

Will update you all about it when I find out more info!
